are there any non cookie cutter dresses?

I personally am very modern and stylish and feel that the more "traditional" wedding dresses are just not flattering and fashionable enough. I want something very contemporary. I hate the cookie cutter weddings!! If everyone else wants to have pastels and princess dresses from Davids Bridal that is by all means great for you, but not for me.

Does anyone know any offbeat dress designers for great gowns? I have been to offbeatbrides.com but I am looking for even more resources. I appreciate all the designers you can offer up and please remember no cookie cutter gowns. Thank you!

help me find the designer of a dress i saw in "the knot"?

I'm getting married next july and i am way behind on my planning. especially since i'm have two weddings in two different states. my second wedding is going to be more of a reception for those family members who wont be able to make it to alaska for the actual wedding. i don't want to wear a full gown to this seeing as it will be less formal of an affair. i saw a dress in the magazine "the Knot" that was a short strapless dress with a sheer polka-dot over lay type thing. i would love to know where to find this dress because i think it would be perfect for the second celebration. please help!
it wasnt as formal as the dress in the links below. it was like a two piece dress. the underneath dress was a short, strapless, white, from fitting piece and then the top layer was the sheer polka dot piece and it was a tank style.

A good place to try is a local bridal shop. If you have a copy of the dress sometime they can find the dress for you. By all means stay away from David's Bridals.
