Keeping warm while in your wedding gown and being outside?

I live in PA and we have been hit with a cold-snap. The days are usually still fairly warm here in October, but this year is different - today and the next few temps will be in the 40's ... BRRR! ... for the high.
We were planning to take some pictures in a park before our wedding at the end of the month, and aside from praying for it to warm up, I need to be prepared to be outside for an hour to hour and a half for pictures in some chilly temperatures.

I'm wondering what other people have done to keep warm in-between photos, or were you just so excited that you didn't notice that it was cold?

I'm looking into capes and shawls (at least it is Halloween time so there are tons of capes available for sale in costume shops). But I would love to hear other ideas.

Turning my wedding gown into a pirate costume?

I got married this summer, and now have a dress that isn't selling. So, I've decided to keep it, and somehow use it for Halloween (sweet...I get to wear it more than once!).

As a family, we've decided we're all going as pirates.

I need some ideas on how to transform this beautiful designer gown into a pirate wench's apparel.

If your ideas involve cutting, stitching, dying, etc...that's totally fine! I'm open to any and all ideas! I'm not sure how this fabric would dye though...it's a synthetic taffeta material. I would love if I could dye the outer layers black, and the tulle underneath red...but I'm just not sure it would work...

Synthetics don't dye, neither does tulle. But it might take a fabric paint.
