Wedding Gown Classic
Wedding fashion advice needed...?
My wife and I are 'maid of honor' and 'best man' at the wedding of some close friends. They asked us to choose the dresses for the bridesmaids (4) and attire for the groomsmen (also 4).
Additional info:
The groom will wear a standard black tux. The bride, a classic off white gown.
The bride is 7 months pregnant.
The wedding will take place in Nassau, Bahamas next month, on the beach.
My wife made dresses for the bridesmaids allready...pink and blue striped (horizontal) from very sheer fabric and very 'body hugging' (the maids are all hotties)
**the wed to be do not know the sex of their child yet**
So, I'm in charge of the groomsmen's attire. I was thinking off white Bermuda shorts, crisp button down linen shirts tye-died pink and blue, w/ black bow ties, and black sandals. Ya know, something to compliment the maid's colors.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...I've only got a few weeks. Augh!!!
Wow Cam ... don't you love all the non-judgmental answers here? I applaud your friends for trying to do what's right BEFORE the baby is born and give that child the opportunity at a life with a mom AND dad ~ which sadly seems to be the rarity nowadays! I'm guessing these posters own sense of righteousness qualifies them to act superior and higher class of course! Psssh!
Except for cutemum ...she is always an upbeat and positive gal and I agree with her 100%. I would definitely nix the bow ties. Way too conservative for the beach. Rather than tie dye (because while mostly negative the one poster was correct about it being a bit outdated) I'd go with a blue shirt to match the blue in the 'maids' dresses. Adding pink to the mix would way overdo it and the happy couple would be very drowned out in all that color. The blue would be a bit more masculine and accentuate the dresses nicely while allowing the pink in the dresses to make the girls feminine and also stand out a bit more than the groomsman - which is exactly what they should do (especially if they're hotties! lol)
As far as etiquette goes the bride IS wearing EXACTLY what she should wear. Off white. The poster above is clueless apparently. If she were wearing pure white (which denoted innocence and virginity) it would be off color. However, off white is what should be worn when you're prego or no longer a virgin so she is spot on my man! =)
I'd also nix the black sandals (too harsh with off white shorts) and find some to match the color of shorts you're wearing. Or go with black shorts and then the black sandals will be fine. Another piece of advice is that I would tell your wife or the bride to be that the girls flowers should be mainly pink to match the dresses with either off white accent flower, blue accent flowers, or a bit of BOTH blue and white accent flowers so the blend in nicely and do not stand out to harshly. She may want the brides bouquet to be mostly off white with pink and blue accents and the girls to have mostly pink with just blue accents. That would look great!
Believe it or not - with all the other 100 jobs I've had in my short life - I was a wedding planner for my church for 2 years. I've seen it all. Just keep it as simple as possible and have a BLAST. If you need any other advice please email me. =D
