How many times have we all been tempted to rip out the pictures of ultrathin models from fashion magazine? Yet more than half the women in America wear plus-size clothes size 14 or larger. Still, it took a family crisis for us to realize how to love the bodies we were born with.

Now this whole 'thin is in' thing is officially 'out' for our family. We don't mean we're giving up healthy habits. We've learned how to accept our large physiques for their unique beauty. It simply took a major family upset for us all to learn this lesson.

The whole thing came to a head when our cousin got engaged to her high school sweetheart. We're a close family, so she wanted as many people as possible to be in her wedding. We were beginning to think there'd be nobody left in the pews on the bride's side. Our laughter turned sour, however, when our cousin got hold of some bridal magazines. It wasn't long before we were fighting over how to lose fat instead of getting ready for a joyous wedding.

Finally, our aunt had had enough of her daughter turning into Bridezilla over this issue of body size. Auntie is one smart cookie, and it wasn't long before she figured out a strategy that saved the day - and the family.

Our aunt consulted with a good friend of hers who operates a bridal shop in town. The dress shop owner said she saw our kind of problem all the time. The best solution, she told our aunt, was to show the bride-to-be how a plus size wedding dress could be the perfect solution to her worries about looking fabulous on her wedding day. Once the bride-to-be was convinced, the bridesmaids would have an easier time choosing gowns as well, she told our aunt.

The shop owned loaned our aunt some catalogs from manufacturers that specialize in plus size bridal attire. Our aunt knew the rest of us wouldn't show up if it looked like we were going to go another round in the great wedding diet match, so she tricked us. She got us all over to her house by staging a show for party jewelry. While we were drooling over those beautiful sparklers, she sprang the catalogs on us.

Before long, the bride-to-be and her now-reconciled bridesmaids were squealing with delightover the pictures of gorgeous dresses. We got so excited that our aunt had to get out her measuring tape so we could measure each other for one of those fabulous dresses.

The great wedding dress battle had a happy ending, just like a good romance should. The bride and her attendants walked proudly down the church aisle in wedding gowns that fitted us perfectly and made us all look like fairy tale princesses (large economy size, of course). Our aunt's scheme really saved the wedding day.

I have to go to a prison wedding and need hep picking out a dress?

I'm a brides maid in a prison wedding and need to pick out a dress, she said the only requirement is that the dress is blue. She also said the dress has to fit the prison dress standards which are:

No strapless dresses
No cleavage
dress must not hang more then 1 inch above the knee
and it must not be skin tight

What shoes did you wear for your wedding ceremony and reception?

I've been looking into wearing a heel for the ceremony and formal pictures and then switching to a flat for dinner and dancing during the night. I'm having the shoes dyed to match my dress (since I have a royal blue wedding gown). After looking at shoes and getting an estimate, I'm worried I'm going to waste a lot of money on shoes I'll only wear for about an hour--the heels. The flats are really nice and dressy, but is it going to be enough for a ceremony? And is it going to look bad during the picture taking?

What did you wear during your wedding? I'm just wondering what other brides did for their big day.

The flats you chose would be totally fine for you to wear all day - depending upon what your dress is like, all which is usually seen is maybe the toe peeking through the bottom of the dress.
I wore a pair of slingbacks, white leather, with cutouts along the vamp.
