how come brides do not show off legs in their wedding gowns?

I am just wondering, I see loads of beautiful wedding gowns that show off either the bride's back or cleavage, but never her legs. Mine is a 2-layer gown, the inside being a mini dress (opague of course), above mid-thigh, and the outer layer is a translucent, laced material, that is very long (chapel train at the back). I am proud of my legs and thats y i am showing them off. not showing my cleavage and back as i dont wan to appear tarty (I sort of designed it, by the way).
Even the 'shorter' styles are at least knee-length. is it really that undesirable to show off legs?
cleavage (huge amount) can hardly count as 'modesty' right?

I agree with you but I think it stems from the old fashioned dress of years passed and it just didn't change down the ages. I do like knee high wedding dresses, but I also love the Princess look of the long flowing gown. Kind of like queen or princess for a day. I LOVE long chapel trains. that's another old tradition you know. It all had to do with modesty and no other than the husband was allowed to see more. It's a matter of taste. Some tradition are really nice. the most beautiful wedding I ever saw was an Indian wedding. One from India. They have the most gorgeous traditional wedding dresses with so many decoration and the Colors are so beautiful. Even the groom looks so good in his Traditional way of dressing. Guess I just love weddings. By the way, have you thought of designing as career because your dress sounds so beautiful.
